Peer program is honored by Points of Light Foundation

The Clark County Social Service Neighborhood Justice Center's School Peer Mediation Program was recognized by the Points of Light Foundation for its proactive response to the increase in school violence.
The award, given by the Points of Light Foundation, the Knights of Columbus and the Corporation for National Service, honors individuals and organizations who connect Americans through service that meets needs in their communities.
Through mediation, critical thinking and problem solving, the peer mediation program teaches students nonviolent methods to conflict resolution. The program began in 1993. There are 42 schools that participate.
The Las Vegas office of Montgomery Watson is a finalist in a national engineering competition for its design of the $20 million Spring Mountain-Durango Reservoir and Pumping Station.
The American Consulting Engineers Council, a national organization of consulting engineers, awards the Engineering Excellence Award. Its 5,700 membership firms employ more than 250,000 engineers, land surveyors, architects, scientists and technicians.
