Cousins sentenced in murder case
Thursday, April 13, 2000 | 10:59 a.m.
Two cousins convicted of shooting a 17-year-old girl to death in October 1997 were given life in prison with the possibility of parole.
Johnny Hughes Walker, 20, received from District Judge Donald Mosley two consecutive life sentences for first-degree murder and using a deadly weapon to kill Maureen McConaha. Walker, who was convicted of the crime in a March trial, will be eligible for parole in 40 years.
Mosley sentenced Christian Doran Walker, 21, to two consecutive life in prison terms for the February conviction of second-degree murder and using a deadly weapon to kill McConaha. He will be eligible for parole after 20 years.
Authorities believe Christian Walker and McConaha had a tumultuous relationship and on the night she died he became angry when he saw her talking to another man at a party.
Witnesses saw the girl leave with the cousins, and an hour later the cousins came back by themselves.
