Senators seek comment from consumers on HMOs
Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev., and Sen. Byron Dorgan, D-N.D., chairman of the Democratic Policy Committee, will hold a hearing on the proposed Patients' Bill of Rights Friday 3-4:30 p.m. at the Marjorie Barrick Museum of Natural History at UNLV. The senators are seeking comment on Senate Bill 6, the Democratic plan that would provide consumers protections against HMO abuses and hold HMOs accountable when their decisions hurt patients.
Reflexologist to host hearing workshop at area resort
Nevada Reflexology Organization will be hosting an Auricular Therapy workshop with world renowned reflexologist from England Beryl Crane 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Oasis Las Vegas RV Resort, 2711 W. Windmill Parkway. The fee is $75. Call 615-3332.
Group to cover early 1900s sexuality, hygiene
A free lecture and discussion group on "Women's Sexuality and Social Hygiene from 1900 to 1921" is scheduled 3 p.m. Sunday at the Whitney Library, 5175 E. Tropicana Ave. Admission is free. Call 655-2431.
Las Vegas worship center is dedicated
Shadow Hills Baptist Church, 7811 Vegas Drive, will dedicate its new worship center at 9:15 and 10:45 a.m. Sunday. A new service schedule has gone into effect at the church, with worship at 5 p.m. Saturday and 9:15 and 10:45 a.m. Sunday. Easter services on April 23 will be 8, 9:10, 10:20 and 11:30 a.m. Call 880-7811.
University of Nevada Press has giveaway
April is National Poetry Month and public libraries in Nevada will receive 2,490 free collections of poetry by award-winning Western poets.
As a way of promoting Nevada's poets, 11 poetry volumes published by the University of Nevada Press will be distributed by the Nevada State Library and Archives to 23 library jurisdictions.
Featured poets include Shaun Griffin, Adrian C. Louis, Garfy Short, A. Wilbur Stevens, Katharine Coles, Gailmarie Pahmeier, C.L. Rawlins, Kirk Robertson, Stephen S. N. Liu, Joanne de Longchamps and Red Shuttleworth.

SW Engineering hunts for egg donations
Southwest Engineering is seeking donations of plastic eggs, individually wrappe' d candy and 100 Easter baskets for an Easter egg hunt the firm plans to host at' Child Haven, the county's shelter for abused, abandoned and neglected children' .
The hunt will be held 3 p.m. April 20 at the Child Haven campus, 701 N. Pecos R' oad. For information on volunteering or donating items, call 648-9700.
KVVU-TV Fox 5 also is collecting items for the children of Child Haven.
Donations of diapers, baby food, formula, clothes, toiletries, candy, toys and ' gifts for young people ages 0-17 are being accepted at the Fox 5 studios or at ' any county or city fire station. They will be delivered to Child Haven Friday a' t an Easter party that will feature volunteers from the production show "Splash' ."
