Currently: In his second season with the Violets, Kallick helped his NYU squad to its first-ever Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association Division III title last weekend. The former Gator led NYU in its semifinal win over Vassar College on Saturday with 19 kills and four blocks, then contributed 11 kills, five blocks and four digs in the championship victory over Juaniata College on Sunday. With 491 kills this season, Kallick now has more than 1,000 for his career and is on pace to break the school record of 1,729. As a freshman, he led the Violets with 532 kills and earned a spot on Volleyball America's Division III All-America squad. NYU will play in the upcoming AVCA/ Molten Division III National Championships in Hoboken, N.J.
Looking back: Kallick was one of the area's most dominant volleyball players during his prep career, helping the Gators to the 1997 Southern Zone title and back to the zone tournament in his senior season the following year. He was named the conference volleyball player of the year in 1998. Kallick was also a starter for a Green Valley basketball squad that captured the 1998 Sunrise Division title and advanced to the 4A State Tournament in Reno.
