Ownership change won’t affect Nellis health care
Tuesday, April 11, 2000 | 10:19 a.m.
Nellis Air Force Base personnel will not be affected by an ownership change involving the company that provides their managed health care.
Sierra Health Services sold its 12 percent stake in TriWest Health Care, but it will continue providing doctors for the health-services network for another year.
Because Sierra's role as network provider is not changing yet, active-duty personnel and their dependents will not experience any changes, Robert Wolfersteig, TriWest director of communications, said.
Military personnel and their families who are covered will be able to go to the same doctors or providers without an increase in fees, Wolfersteig said.
TriWest is a Phoenix-based management service organization that has contracts with the Defense Department to provide managed health care through its TRICARE program.
Wolfersteig said that after Sierra's year is over, TriWest will most likely assume management of the network.
There won't be any effect on personnel, he said. "We are committed to the same level of customer service."
