Family displaced by Fremont Street Experience continues to fight

A family whose property was seized to make way for the Fremont Street Experience in downtown Las Vegas says it will continue its fight to get what it claims is a fair price for the property.

Harry Pappas has rejected what he calls a "low ball" offer by the city. The case has dragged on for six years and has become a blemish on the city's redevelopment efforts.

Pappas said he met twice with Mayor Oscar Goodman, then "We just kind of dropped it."

He said the number being offered by the city and the downtown casinos is "insulting."

Pappas said he has agreed not to disclose the city's offer.

The city acquired the land in 1994, using the power of eminent domain.
