City Centre member quits

A potential conflict of interest has cost the City Centre Development Corp. another board member.
President Jodi Goodheart, a lawyer at the Jones Vargas law firm, resigned last week citing her involvement with a trust that owns property in the downtown redevelopment area.
Earlier this year architect Tom Schoeman also resigned, citing conflict of interests because his firm, JMA Architects, was involved in Pauls Corp.'s redevelopment project at Fourth Street and Lewis Avenue.
The City Centre board is a private-sector panel of eight volunteers who make recommendations to the city's Redevelopment Agency.
Goodheart has served on the board since it was created in 1997. She has recently become more outspoken, and has questioned the practices of some city staff.
The City Centre Development Corp.'s staff and the city's Office of Business Development at times duplicate each other's efforts.
