Hiker spends night in Carson Range

A search for Anne Turboville, 48, of Reno, began Saturday evening when she and her dog failed to return from a hike at Galena Creek Park.
She and the border collie were found at 3 a.m. Sunday on a snow-covered trail above the park.
Washoe County sheriff's deputies said she wasn't adequately dressed, but she was found in good condition and did not require medical treatment.
In a related case, a missing cross-country skier spent an extra night in the Carson Range less than 10 miles away before being rescued Sunday morning.
A search for Ed Powell of Reno began Saturday evening after he failed to return from an overnight ski trip as scheduled.
Deputies said he became disoriented and had to spend another night in the mountains. He was found at 10 a.m. Sunday in the Big Meadows area by searchers in a plane.
He also was found in good condition and did not require medical treatment, deputies said.
