Editorial: Drug benefits may be on the horizon

Some conservative Senate Republicans who are up for re-election are worrying that failure to pass a drug benefit could derail their candidacies, so even they are advocating government action to lower drug prices. Fear can be a great motivator, especially for politicians whose jobs are on the line. That fear might even translate into legislation that responsibly ensures that seniors and the disabled don't have to go broke paying for the high cost of drugs.
