Patrick W. Bennett

Patrick W. Bennett, 47, of Las Vegas died Thursday in a local hospital. He was born Jan. 20, 1953, in Detroit. A Nevada resident for 25 years and a Las Vegas resident for one year, he was director of food and beverage at the Showboat, a member of the board of directors of the Nevada Restaurant Association, Las Vegas Food and Beverage Directors Association, Washoe County Health Department, International Food Service Executive Association, American Culinary Federation and Northern Nevada Wine Association and a charter member of the High Sierra Chefs Association.

He is survived by his wife, Linda L.; three daughters, Mary Anne Bennett, Emily Bennett and Jennifer "J.J." Bennett, all of Las Vegas; his parents, James F. and Charlene Juane Bennett of Wellington, Fla.; four brothers, James F. Bennett II of St. Clair, Wis., Michael J. Bennett of Camarillo, Calif., Richard C. Bennett of Lake Worth, Fla., and Robert E. Bennett II of Livonia, Mich.; three sisters, Rita J. Mahfet of Troy, Mich., Cynthia A. Bennett-Wasniewski of Wellington and Mary M. Barkley of Temecula, Calif.

Visitation is scheduled 5-8 p.m. today in Davis Funeral Home, 2127 W. Charleston Blvd. A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 1811 Pueblo Vista Drive.

Dustin Berkowitz-Swain

Dustin Berkowitz-Swain, 6 months, of Las Vegas died March 29 in Las Vegas. He was born Sept. 25, 1999, in Henderson.

He is survived by his mother, Lauri Berkowitz, and his father, Thomas Swain, both of Las Vegas; six sisters, Wesley Swain, Ashley Swain, Dominique Swain and Kirsten Swain, all of Las Vegas, Carrissa Alster of Caliente, Calif., and Amanda Garcia of Bakersfield, Calif.; three brothers, Beau Alster of California, Justin Garcia of Bakersfield and Kalen Williams of Caliente; and his grandparents, Dorothy Swain and Jerry Berkowitz, both of Las Vegas, and Suzanne Brown-Seltzer of Henderson.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Sunday in Palm Valley View Mortuary. Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.

The family suggests donations to the Sudden Infant Death Syndrome Foundation, 1600 Pinto Lane, Las Vegas, NV 89106.

Ursula Edith Bielak

Ursula Edith Bielak, 63, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospice. She was born March 12, 1937, in Hamburg, Germany. A resident for 20 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Fred.

Irma Cecile Broberg

Irma Cecile Broberg, 76, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born Dec. 23, 1923, in New York City. A resident for 30 years, she was a waitress.

She is survived by one son, Keith Goldsmith of California.

William Edward Callahan

William Edward Callahan, 65, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. He was born April 16, 1934, in Florida. A resident for 13 years, he was a truck driver and an Air Force veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Teresa; two sons, Larry Callahan and James Callahan; and two grandchildren.

Services will be 5 p.m. today at St. Jude's Ranch for Children, 100 St. Jude, Boulder City. Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

Mary Carapucci

Mary Carapucci, 81, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. She was born April 26, 1918, in Pennsylvania. A resident for many years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one son, Paul Carapucci of Las Vegas.

No local services are scheduled. Burial will be in Pennsylvania. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Kyle Allen Coleman

Kyle Allen Coleman, 3 months, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born Dec. 24, 1999, in Las Vegas.

He is survived by his mother, Lisa Curry, one brother, Terry Riley, and one sister, Alyssa Riley, all of Las Vegas; and his grandmother, Donna Curry of Reno.

A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Desert Hills Baptist Church, 4401 S. Nellis Blvd. Burial will be private. American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane, is handling arrangements.

Vera M. Exber

Vera M. Exber, 83, of Las Vegas died March 21 in Las Vegas. She was born Oct. 4, 1916, in Three Rivers, Mass. A resident for 47 years, she was a retired hotel-casino cashier.

She is survived by one son, Scott Exber of Las Vegas.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

Wendell E. Hall

Wendell E. Hall, 62, of Searchlight died March 22 in a local hospice. He was born June 1, 1937, in Bakersfield, Calif. A resident for nine years, he was a fuel dock attendant and an Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Delma; four daughters, Kim Erickson of Las Vegas, Cathey Holt of Anchorage, Alaska, Lori Hall of Fontana, Calif., and Laurie Holt of Denver; three sons, Mike Hall of Riverside, Calif., Dale Holt of Lake Elsinore, Calif., and Tim Holt of Corona, Calif.; two half-sisters, Carole Hunnicutt of Idaho and Luan Allen of California.

Gene Loss

Gene Loss, 64, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. He was born Sept. 4, 1935, in Borgman, W.Va. A resident for 21 years, he was a corporal in the Marine Corps.

He is survived by three sons, Don Loss, Mike Loss and Jim Loss, all of Ohio; three daughters, Lori Goedecke and Lisa Loss, both of Ohio, and Gina Loss of Las Vegas; three brothers, Rich Loss of Pennsylvania, Ron Loss of Florida and Pat Loss of Ohio; three sisters, Rosie Bechter of Ohio, Charlotte Sis of Maryland and Shirley Smith of West Virginia; and eight grandchildren.

Neptune Society of Nevada, 8570 Del Webb Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Robert Dale Mills

Robert Dale Mills, 56, of Las Vegas died March 20 in Las Vegas. He was born March 6, 1944, in Rockport, Texas. A resident for 18 years, he was a miner in New Mexico, a tow-truck driver and a veteran.

He is survived by his companion, Candace Schutz; one son, Robert Mills; three stepchildren, Camille Robinson, Shane McKinney and Starle McKinney; his parents, Polly and D.S. Mills; four brothers, Rex Mills of Lacey Springs, Ala., Roy Mills and Ronnie Mills, both of Puyallup, Wash., and Rodney Mills of Grants, N.M.; two sisters, Roxie Flander of Rio Rancho, N.M., and Rebecca Popple of Perry, Fla.; and one granddaughter.

Edward W. Ransom Sr.

Edward W. Ransom Sr., 83, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. He was born July 25, 1915, in Massachusetts. A resident for 18 years, he was a factory worker.

He is survived by three sons, Edward William Ransom Jr. of Henderson and Robert Joseph Ransom and Harold Ransom, both of Massachusetts; two daughters, Joy E. Connerney of Las Vegas and Rena Thorne of California; four sisters, Gladys Lyman, Evelyn Bloomer, Marie Chamberlin and Helen Arenburg, all of Massachusetts; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

William Charles Rayner

William Charles Rayner, 86, of Henderson died Wednesday in a local hospital. He was born July 7, 1913, in London. A resident for two years, he was a retired automobile engineer.

He is survived by one son, James Rayner of Henderson; one sister, Olive Leach of London; and two granddaughters.

Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Graveside services will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

David L. Scott

David L. Scott, 55, of North Las Vegas died Wednesday in North Las Vegas. He was born April 1, 1945, in Greybull, Wyo. A resident for 14 years, he was a hotel floorman and a Vietnam War Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Charlette; two sons, Mike Scott of Ohio and Marques Houser of Salt Lake City; four daughters, Jennifer Scott of Casper, Wyo., Michelle of St. Louis, Heidi Sweet of North Las Vegas and Holly Houser of Salt Lake City; three brothers, Doug Scott of Greybull, Jerry Brown of Cody, Wyo., and Arthur Kitzrow of Sun City, Calif.; two sisters, Margaret Brown of Cody and Marjorie Kitzrow of Sun City; and six grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Saturday in Echo of Faith Church, 1404 E. Washington Ave. Burial will be private. American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane, is handling arrangements.

Mary K. 'Moira' Smith

Mary K. "Moira" Smith, 65, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born April 21, 1934, in Ireland. A resident for 32 years, she was a retired hotel PBX operator and a member of Daughters of Erin.

She is survived by one son, Lennie Smith of Las Vegas; one daughter, Amanda Armstrong of Henderson; two brothers, Andrew Beegan of Wales and Michael Beegan of Ireland; two sisters, Rita McCarthy and Eileen, both of England; and three grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Monday in Guardian Angel Cathedral, 302 Cathedral Way. Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.

Kenneth Veldheer

Kenneth Veldheer, 73, of Las Vegas died Thursday in a local hospital. He was born April 10, 1926, in Holland, Mich. A resident for 18 years, he was retired from the real estate business and a World War II Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon K.; five daughters, Sandra Scheidemantel and Sharon Lark, both of Escanaba, Mich., Susan Collins of Torrance, Calif., Pat Purdue of Pahrump and Pamala Harper of Las Vegas; one son, Steven Veldheer of Torrance; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Mary S. Walsh

Mary S. Walsh, 76, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. She was born July 13, 1923, in Chicago. A resident for 18 years, she was a retired office manager.

She is survived by three daughters, Gail Reynolds of Dade City, Fla., Therese Walsh of Las Vegas and Lora Walsh of Ashland, Mass.; one son, Mark Walsh of Ashland; and three grandchildren.
