Breathing gear to cost $151,983
The North Las Vegas Fire Department will receive 46 self-contained breathing apparatuses used by firefighters when entering structures that are smoke-filled.
The council has awarded $151,983 to Bauer Compressors Inc. for the apparatuses. According to staff reports, current equipment used for this purpose is antiquated.
Week to honor federal program
The city of North Las Vegas has designated April 24-30 as Community Development Week.
Since 1975 the Community Development Block Grant program has provided state and local governments with federal financial resources to help meet the needs of low-and moderate-income residents.
Residents are being encouraged to recognize the importance of this resource in meeting pressing community concerns.
