Libertarians plan state convention

Wednesday, April 5, 2000 | 12:10 p.m.

More than 100 delegates are expected for the April 15 Libertarian Party state convention at the Palace Station hotel-casino.

State Libertarian Party Director Chris Azzaro believes the convention will break previous attendence records.

"We want to carry as much momentum into the election season as possible," Azzaro said. "Anyone who is interested in learning more about our party is encouraged to attend."

There are more than 5,200 registered Libertarian voters in Nevada, Azzaro said. Admission is $40 and reservations can be made by calling (702) 260-8328.

Parnell to run

CARSON CITY -- Assemblywoman Bonnie Parnell, D-Carson City, said today she will seek a second term.

Parnell, a teacher for 25 years, sponsored legislation in 1999 to require schools to set aside a time daily for the Pledge of Allegiance. She also introduced legislation to increase the amount paid to state employees to help offset health insurance costs.
