Children's festival comes to Las Vegas
The 7th annual Clark County Children's Festival, sponsored by Clark County Parks and Recreation, will be held 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday at Winchester Community Center and Park, 3130 S. McLeod Drive. Admission to the festival is free. The festival is co-sponsored by KVVU Channel 5. For more information, call 455-7340.
Vounteers sought for trauma training
Trauma Intervention Program of Southern Nevada is seeking new volunteers for a training program beginning Thursday.
TIP is a nonprofit organization providing emotional and practical support to trauma victims. Volunteers are called by fire, hospital and police personnel 24 hours a day, seven days a week to support and comfort family, friends and bystanders of a traumatic event. Two-day transport program to be held
Lion Technology Inc. will conduct a two-day workshop, "Hazardous Materials Transportation," Thursday and Friday at the Imperial Palace hotel-casino.
The sessions, beginning at 7:30 a.m. both days, will cover compliance with U.S. Department of Transportation regulations governing the transporting and shipping of hazardous materials, and is directed toward professionals involved in hazardous materials shipping. Planned auction to benefit the deaf
The Junior Mesquite Club's 22nd annual Art Auction to benefit the Southern Nevada Deaf Resource Center will be held Saturday at the Las Vegas Natural History Museum, 900 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Tickets may be purchased at the door for $10. Call 243-5046.
Workshop held at recreation center
The City of Henderson Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a free rape prevention workshop from 10 am.-2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Black Mountain Recreation Center, 599 Greenway Road, Henderson. Participation is open to people over 13 years old. Comfortable clothing and tennis shoes are required. Call 565-2880.
LV asked to 'Spring for the Cure'
The annual MS Walk 2000 "Spring for the Cure" will begin 8 a.m. Saturday at the Hughes Center, 3800 Howard Hughes Parkway. Call the Winchester Community Center, 3130 S. McLeod Drive, 736-7272.
