Company urges customers to write Clark County Commission

Retailing giant Wal-Mart is urging customers to call Clark County commissioners in a growing battle over plans for expanded facilities in Southern Nevada.
The company made the appeal in full-page ads in the Las Vegas Review-Journal and Las Vegas Sun, as well as a mailing of 260,000 fliers.
The company wants to build "supercenters" in Nevada that would include grocery stores. Labor unions are lobbying the county commission to block the plan, saying Wal-Mart does not pay its employees union wages.
Wal-Mart officials contend they're trying to provide goods - including groceries - at lower prices, and are urging customers to call commissioners with their opinions. The move has clogged county commission phone lines.
