The jobs unanimously endorsed Tuesday by members of the Nevada Transportation Board, chaired by Gov. Kenny Guinn, are in line for funds generated by federal and state fuel taxes and other sources.
The funding is for the upcoming federal fiscal year, which opens Friday. Much of the money goes to fast-growing Las Vegas, including $44 million to rebuild the Interstate 15-Sahara Avenue interchange.
Other Las Vegas-area projects include a $38 million widening project on U.S. 95 between I-15 and Rainbow Boulevard; and a $39 million widening job on I-15 between the Southern Beltway and the Spaghetti Bowl.
Northern Nevada also has big ticket items, notably $24 million for work on the northern half of the U.S. 395 Bypass in Carson City.
Other Carson City projects include $1.9 million to resurface Carson Street from Fairview Lane to Hot Springs; and $2.5 million to resurface College Parkway from North Carson Street to Hot Springs Road.
Planned Reno-area spending includes $4.4 million to widen Geiger Grade from two to four lanes, from South Virginia Street east to Mira Loma Road; and $8.8 million for a truck lane on Interstate 80 west from Keystone Avenue to Robb Drive.
There's also $11 million for a new Sutro-Scottsdale interchange on U.S. 395 north; $2 million to repave the Mount Rose Highway east from the summit; and $20.2 million for engineering and right-of-way acquisition for a future U.S.395 south extension between the Bowers Mansion turnoff and Mount Rose Highway.
Also endorsed was $6 million to build another mile of track on the Virginia & Truckee Railroad south from Gold Hill.
Other northern Nevada projects include some $23 million in erosion control and upgrade projects for Lake Tahoe highways in Douglas County.
