The volunteers had threatened to resign if they didn't receive an answer from Elko County Manager George Boucher by Friday afternoon on results of the investigation.
They claimed the county is dragging its feet following an Aug. 17 meeting after 15 volunteer firemen signed a letter complaining about Hutchinson.
The volunteers issued a statement Friday saying they would remain on call for the safety of residents and guests of the town of Jackpot and is not because of any support of the county or the chief.
The firefighters haven't detailed their complaints. Hutchinson says only that the situation was one he inherited when he took over the job.
