Union to represent Paris noncasino workers

The Teamsters Union said it has been recognized by Park Place Entertainment Inc.'s Paris Las Vegas hotel-casino.
Employees represented by Teamsters Local 995 at Paris will include front desk clerks, room reservations clerks, valet parkers, warehouse workers, general laborers and gardeners. The union will represent about 240 employees at the property.
The hotel-casino and the union conducted a "card check" to determine representation on Tuesday. Under a card check, a majority of the employees involved must sign cards stating their desire to be represented by a certain union.
"We have a good relationship with Park Place, and we hope this will be good for both sides," said Teamsters organizer Ray Isner.
The Teamsters will hold their first meetings with Paris employees in early October, and will begin contract negotiations with Paris management in November.
