Motorcycle accident kills Las Vegas man
Monday, Sept. 27, 1999 | 12:42 p.m.
A 20-year-old Las Vegas motorcyclist was killed early Sunday morning by a man police believe was driving under the influence of alcohol.
The motorcyclist, identified by the coroner's office today as Jarrod Straub, was going west in the 3500 block of West Sahara Avenue on a 1999 Ducati motorcycle at 1:45 a.m., police said.
Mitchell Blasche, 41, was traveling east on Sahara in a 1976 International Scout and started to make a left turn onto Spanish Oaks Center, police said.
The Scout moved directly into the path of the victim's motorcycle, causing a collision, police said.
Straub, who worked for a linen company, died at the scene, and police say alcohol on the part of Blasche appears to have been a factor in the accident.
Police are still investigating the accident. No charges have yet been filed.
