Candy Dance draws crowds again
Monday, Sept. 27, 1999 | 9:11 a.m.
Perfect weather drew an estimated 60,000 people and at least $100,000 to the Candy Dance festival. It's the main fund-raiser in the small foothill town.
Old-timers and newcomers alike got involved in the pre-Candy Dance ritual candy making, packaging, planning and preparing. This year, two tons of candy was prepared by townsfolk.
Visitors had to park in a designated lot and take a free shuttle into town to ease congestion in the tiny village.
All streets leading to Genoa were closed during daylight hours Saturday and Sunday.
