Letter: Store should be selling American
Sunday, Sept. 26, 1999 | 9:43 a.m.
So I got a new one and to my disgust it was made in China! I have yet to find anything in the apparel department made in America. I think it would be such a thrill to find a label on something that said "Union Made in the U.S.A."
When I see big companies like Wal-Mart that are paying low-scale wages to part-time help and want to put in big box stores to undercut the stores that have union help, it makes me wonder why big corporations can absolutely take over everything in our wonderful country and are allowed to get away with making money on the backs of cheap labor.
I am all for unions. This country wouldn't be what it is today if it weren't for unions. I would rather pay a few dollars more for something that was made to last than some cheap piece of clothing made in China for Wal-Mart. By the way, I didn't put up the China-made American flag. I used my old one.
