The Economic Opportunity Board of Clark County has begun to search for a new executive director after James Tyree announced he will retire from the post effective Oct. 1.
Tyree joined the board as a volunteer management analyst in 1969, and in 1970 he was promoted to deputy director of the EOB.
Since 1983 Tyree has served as EOB executive director, and under his leadership the EOB's budget grew from $1.5 million to $32 million.
The board is now conducting a nationwide search to fill the vacancy. An EOB spokeswoman said the goal is to have a new director in place by Nov. 1.
