Las Vegas gains flight from Connecticut
Thursday, Sept. 23, 1999 | 11:30 a.m.
Southwest Airlines said it's starting Saturday nonstop flights between Hartford, Conn., and Las Vegas's McCarran International Airport beginning Nov. 6.
Southwest, the top air carrier at McCarran by passenger volume, experimented with Saturday-only nonstop flights to New Orleans and Spokane, Wash., last year when it took delivery of new Boeing 737 jets with longer range.
The Hartford flight will be one of Southwest's longest from Las Vegas. The airline already has daily nonstop service to Baltimore.
The new weekly Las Vegas flight is one of 15 new nonstops and three one-stop flights announced by Southwest today. The expansion of flights resulted from the airline taking delivery of new planes.
Introductory fares to Hartford will be $198 round trip.
