Chiropractic offices nationwide will be participating in "Kids Day America/International," a health, safety and environmental awareness day.

Drs. Michael Reiss and Eugene F. Garlick will be sponsoring the event locally in their Henderson office from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday at 1525 W. Warm Springs Road, Suite 300.

In addition to information on crime prevention and child safety, child I.D. cards will be available. Henderson Police will be on hand to provide free fingerprinting of all children.

Hollywood-themed party to serve as fund-raiser

The Social Register of Las Vegas will be hosting a Hollywood themed fund-raiser to benefit the CineVegas International Film Festival at 6 p.m. Sunday at the private estate of Count and Countess Deiro at their Villa Kismet.

The party will re-create the pool scene at the infamous Beverly Hills Hotel in the 1930s and 1940s. The evening activities include valet parking, a silent auction, open bar, live band, costumed entertainment and gourmet cuisine reminiscent of the famous Polo Lounge. Cost is $105 for nonmembers. Hikes of various levels are scheduled

Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area offers free hikes and walks with reservations. Call 363-1921. Some coming programs:

So Rare ... So Red Rock: Take a 3-mile moderate hike Saturday to learn to recognize some of the area's unique plants and animals.

Full Moon, Full Circle: The 6-mile strenuous hike Saturday night is planned while awaiting the rising of the full moon. Enjoy fall weather and learn the "truth" of our wonderful wildlife.

Cactus Dawn: Take a 3-mile moderate hike Sunday at dawn to Cactus Hill.

Clark County Library to hold special evening

In recognition of Banned Books Week, the Clark County Library will present "You Can't Read That: An Evening with Banned Books."

The evening of readings from banned and/or challenged books takes place at 7 p.m. Sept. 30 in the large conference room, 1401 E. Flamingo Road. Call 733-1141.

Free tests offered at Greenspun center

Free breast cancer and testicular cancer screenings and a prostate exam with a $10 prostate specific antigen blood test are available during "His and Her Health Awareness Week" Saturday through Oct. 2 at the Barbara Greenspun WomensCare Center of Excellence.

Free flu shots, osteoporosis, blood pressure and skin cancer checks, plus workshops on massage, exercise and tips on keeping romance and communication alive will be offered. Call 914-7060 to schedule appointments.

You can take a stroll to help fight cancer

The Light the Night Leukemia Walk will be held Friday at Sunset Park. Walk-up registration is 5:30 p.m.

The walk is an evening fund-raising 1- to 5-mile walk. Walkers will raise funds in support of the Leukemia Society Mission to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma and to improve the quality of life of patients and their families.

Walkers who raise at least $25 in contributions will carry illuminated red balloons throughout the walk. Cancer patients and survivors will carry illuminated white balloons. Call 436-4220.
