Kenny won’t run for U.S. Senate

"My primary consideration was my family and how running a campaign was going to affect my husband, John, and my five children, who are my true passion," Kenny, a Democrat, said in a statement.
"Leaving them to run for the U.S. Senate and putting them through the rigors of another election was something that, at this time, I am not willing to do."
The only major candidate in the race for the seat being vacated by Sen. Richard Bryan, D-Nev., is former Rep. John Ensign, a Republican who narrowly lost a 1998 Senate bid to incumbent Democratic Sen. Harry Reid.
Las Vegas attorney Edward M. Bernstein, a Democrat, is considering running for the seat, but has not announced his candidacy. Nevada Attorney General Frankie Sue Del Papa dropped out of the race earlier this month, citing difficulty in raising money.
