ATLANTIC CITY -- New Jersey Gov. Christine Whitman announced Monday that she will nominate the acting superintendent of the New Jersey State Police to fill a vacancy on the Casino Control Commission.
Lt. Col. Michael Fedorko will fill one of two open positions on the panel, The Press of Atlantic City newspaper reported. He has served with the state police for 30 years, and has served as superintendent since Feb. 28.
Fedorko will replace Commissioner Leanna Brown, who asked not to be reappointed after her five-year term expired Aug. 4. She has said she will extend her term up to 120 days if necessary.
Whitman hasn't filled the vacancy left by the resignation of Bradford Smith one year ago. A Whitman spokesman told the Press that she was unaware of the status of the search for a replacement.
