Letter: Acts of kindness truly appreciated
Monday, Sept. 20, 1999 | 8:49 a.m.
Lightning was flashing and other signs of a nasty storm told me I was in deep trouble when a van came along and the occupants, a young lady and a young gentleman, inquired if they could help. They said they were not familiar with the area but would find the home for me and I was to stay put till they returned. They came back and told me to follow them and they led me directly to the home I was seeking.
With that nasty storm and all, they spent at least 30 minutes to help a complete stranger. If ever I have the opportunity I will gladly help someone in difficulty, rain or shine.
That same evening I was to meet with even more kindness. In the time I was stopping and starting my car many times, while looking at street signs, I ran my battery down. One of the men in the home I was visiting gave me a jump-start and then told me to follow him as he went far out of his way to lead me back to Eastern Avenue so I could find my home. Meeting with so much kindness is a credit to Green Valley.
