Boyfriend arrested in woman's death

Metro Police have arrested the boyfriend of a Las Vegas woman who died from internal injuries at Lake Mead Hospital Friday.

James Richard Hause, 40, has been booked into the Clark County Detention Center in the murder of Debra Ann Cammack, 48, police said.

On Sept. 13 at about 11:30 p.m. police responded to a domestic violence call at the College Inn Mobile Home Park, 4615 E. Lake Mead Blvd., after the Las Vegas Fire Department reported an injured woman at the location.

Cammack was taken to the hospital and underwent surgery for the internal injuries she suffered, police said. Hause was arrested for domestic violence and battery at the scene, and when Cammack died from her injuries on Friday, police booked Hause on murder charges.

Investigators are interested in talking to anyone who may have knowledge of the relationship between Hause and Cammack. Call Secret Witness at 385-5555 or police at 229-3521.

Joseph named new director

Lt. Marc Joseph, a 12-year Metro Police veteran has been named director of the public information office.

Joseph, who joined the department in 1987, was most recently assigned as an administrative lieutenant in the office of the deputy chief of patrol. He will take over for Lt. Rick Alba.

Alba has been transferred the department's training bureau and will oversee firearms and driver's training at the police academy, Joseph said.

Hundreds of Gulf War veterans have gathered in Las Vegas for the fourth annual Gulf War Veterans' Illness Conference.

The conference, at the Palace Station hotel-casino through Tuesday, is sponsored by the National Gulf War Resource Center and is designed to provide information on medical conditions affecting the more than 100,000 U.S. Gulf War veterans.

Scientists and leading government researchers are expected to share information on such topics as exposure to chemical warfare agents, depleted uranium, anthrax vaccines and pesticides.

The conference is open to the public.
