Sierra Pacific will pay after all

"We said we would do the right thing, and this is it," SPPC spokeswoman Faye Anderson said, confirming the company will pay for the property damage to the 2,980-square-foot home owned by Chico and Marie McCauley.
The McCauleys and their two sons have been living in a trailer and a motel room since the fire destroyed their home in southeast Reno on July 1.
Through his attorney, McCauley had asked Sierra Pacific to reimburse him for the home, trailer, two cats, two beef cattle and dog lost in the 2,300-acre Mira Loma fire.
A company attorney initially responded with a letter saying Sierra Pacific was not "interested in discussing compensation" and suggested the family's own negligence might have contributed to their loss.
"It's good that everything is working in the right direction. It's a lot different than it was two months ago," McCauley said.
