Seniors pass high school—again
Sunday, Sept. 19, 1999 | 2:30 a.m.
Seniors in four rural counties who earned enough credits to graduate last year didn't have any trouble with Nevada's High School Proficiency Exam.
School districts in Eureka, Mineral, Pershing and Storey counties report that no 1999 senior failed to graduate solely because of failing the test.
The information was gathered by the state Department of Education, which is monitoring the effect of the new, more difficult test. Nevada seniors are required to pass it to earn a diploma.
Statewide, 709 students eligible for graduation failed to pass the graduation exam last year.
