Letter: Real ‘ecoterrorists’ not often unmasked

In other words, he attempted to strike back at the Kuwaitis by attacking the foundation of their existence -- their environment. Ecoterrorists, thus, are not environmentalists on the rampage, but rather are those who maliciously and wantonly despoil the environment.
By this corrected definition, one would have to consider Mitsubishi and Dupont to be among the most egregious ecoterrorists on Earth. Mitsubishi has worked assiduously to turn the world's oldest rain forest into a wasteland, while Dupont continued full-scale manufacture and distribution of CFCs despite compelling evidence that they were destroying the ozone layer.
Meanwhile, you have ecoterrorist propagandist like the odious CATO Institute and the cynical Rep. Tom DeLay, R-Texas. I recall that on "CBS News" DeLay went before the American people and stated that CFCs have not depleted the ozone layer. This was after it had been firmly established by science that CFCs were indeed responsible for ozone depletion.
To lie to the American people about a real threat that could result in the end of life on Earth is vile beyond measure.
