Citizens advisory members selected
The North Las Vegas City Council on Wednesday appointed two North Las Vegas residents to the Citizens Advisory Committee.
The first, Bob Cullins, currently works with the Las Vegas Fire Department as an administrative officer. The second, Leon Ganter, works for SRI Instruments as a shipping clerk.
David Lloyd was appointed as a citizen representative to the Clark County Community Development Advisory Committee.
Expansion grant sought from feds
The City Council gave approval for the chief of detention for the city, Ken Ellingson, to apply for a $5 million grant to the federal government as part of a jail demolition and expansion program.
Ellingson said if awarded the grant, one of the jail's older modular buildings would be demolished and a larger, concrete and steel building would be built in its place.
