Workshop will give tips on purchases
A free workshop "How to Buy a Computer" will be 7 p.m. Monday in the Clark County Library's Jewel Box Theater, 1401 E. Flamingo Road.
The workshop, sponsored by the Clark County Library's MicroComputer Center and the Periodical Department, will teach how to make a more informed and less stressful computer purchase. Registration is suggested but not required. Call 733-1141.
Auction to benefit handicap association
Ten unique children's playhouses will be on display at area malls as part of the fifth annual dinner and auction, Playhouse '99 "Puttin' on the Ritz," which benefits the Nevada Association for the Handicapped.
The custom-designed, lifelike playhouse will be on display at the Boulevard, Galleria at Sunset and Meadows malls Monday through the first week of October, after which the houses will be auctioned.
Auditions on top for new season
The Nevada Opera Theatre will hold auditions for the 1999-2000 season 5-8 p.m. Saturday at the Violin Outlet, 900 E. Karen Ave.
The productions will include "La Traviata," "Don Pasquale," "Hansel and Gretel," "Opera Gala" and Opera Outreach performances in the Clark County Schools and the community.
Leading and supporting roles are available as well as adult chorus and children's chorus. Call 699-5595.
Henderson recreation department invites sellers
The Henderson Parks and Recreation Department will host a giant garage sale 7 a.m.-noon Saturday at the Black Mountain Recreation Center, 599 Greenway Road. The event will be held outdoors.
Those wishing to sell second-hand items may reserve a space for $10. Booth set up will begin at 6 a.m. For more information, call 565-2880.
Cyclists have chance to help with research
Both recreational and serious cyclists are invited to participate in the 14th annual MS 150 Bike Tour, Desert Heat to Mesquite on Saturday and Sunday.
This two-day, two-way cycling adventure is fully catered. Registration is $25, and all riders must raise a minimum of $150 in pledges. The proceeds will aid multiple sclerosis research efforts across the nation. Call 736-7272.

will distribute weatherization information 8 a.m.-noon Saturday at Payless Cashways, 4330 S. Decatur Blvd., and on Sunday at Payless Cashways, 3350 E. Sunset Road. Call (800) 654-2765.
Fashion Aspects II,
an event presented by Nevada Association of Fashion Design will be held 5-7:30 p.m. with 4:30 p.m. seating Saturday in the Classroom Building Complex, Room A-110, at UNLV. Admission is free. Call 895-3394.
Sutton Terrace
will present a free seminar, "Housing Choices for Seniors" at 8:15 a.m. Saturday at 3185 E. Flamingo Road, featuring speakers on topics such as retirement living, assisted living, skilled nursing facilities, home health care and elder day care. Call 436-9000.
Joe Behar's Community Drama Workshop
will conduct its free two-hour Drama workshops at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Gold Coast hotel-casino. Call 457-0234.
Peter Michel of the Dickinson Library at UNLV
