BLM will pay for increased use of tanker base

The contract calls for the BLM to pay $8,500 a year.
In the past, the BLM hadn't been charged for its use of the airport, but it will be increasing its acreage from 1.7 acres to 11.7 acres. The lease amount is pegged to increase to $11,350 per year by the 20th year, to account for inflation.
Landing fees also will increase from $50 to $90.
BLM plans call for building more taxi ways to accommodate fire retardant tanker planes that use the airport during the summer.
An evaporation pond will also be constructed, which is recommended by the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection to prevent fuel from leaking into a nearby gravel pit.
