Entertainer Toni Tennille and state Sen. Dina Titus will receive awards for their contributions to the arts in Nevada at the first Arts Advocacy Gala Friday in the Grand Ballroom at the Resort at Summerlin.
The event will be hosted by entertainer Bob Anderson. The evening will include entertainment and a silent auction featuring original works from Nevada's finest artists. Call 362-8885.
UMC's Cade selected Hero in Medicine
Las Vegas physician Jerry Cade, who serves on President Clinton's HIV/AIDS Advisory Council, has been selected as a recipient of the 1999 Heroes in Medicine Award.
The International Association of Physicians in AIDS Care will present the award on Sept. 27 at a tribute in San Francisco.
Cade is a co-founder and medical director of the University Medical Center's HIV inpatient unit and HIV outpatient clinic, one of the first dedicated HIV impatient units in the country.
He is a professor of medicine at both UNLV and the University of Nevada School of Medicine.
Several young men promoted to Eagle
The following young men recently earned the distinction of Eagle Scout from the Boulder Dam Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America:

Neilson, 16, of Las Vegas; Robert William Nelson, 18, of Las Vegas; Brandon W. Radmall, 16, of Las Vegas; Jonathan Mare Andrew Salls, 16, of Las Vegas; Mike Strickland, 17, of Las Vegas; William Strumillo, 15, of Las Vegas; Tyson Terry, 18, of Las Vegas, and Zachary Vineyard, 17, of Las Vegas.
MGM Scholarships
MGM Grand officials awarded $50,000 in scholarships to children of MGM Grand employees at a reception on Aug. 4. Twenty-eight students were awarded scholarships ranging from $500 to $2,500 for their scholastic achievements.
IMMUNIZATIONS
Health District immunization clinics are open each week in Southern Nevada. Immunizations are provided without charge to children and young adults under the age of 21 in any of four public health centers and 36 satellite clinics. The following clinics will be open this week, Sept. 15-21:

NORTH LAS VEGAS PUBLIC HEALTH CENTER: 3262 Civic Center Drive, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
HENDERSON PUBLIC HEALTH CENTER: 129 W. Lake Mead Drive, Building A, Suite 10, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
EAST LAS VEGAS PUBLIC HEALTH CENTER: 560 N. Nellis Blvd., Suite E12, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
A.D. GUY CLINIC: Boys & Girls Club, 817 N St., 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday.

BABIES 'R' US: 510 Stephanie, Henderson, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday.
FREMONT MEDICAL CLINIC: 4880 S. Wynn Road, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday. Immunizations free to anyone who walks in.
