Letter: Give voters credit in re-doing wards
Sunday, Sept. 12, 1999 | 9:41 a.m.
The underlying thought that minority populations will automatically vote for someone of their own race, not taking time to look at the issues or a candidate's background, is a discredit to their intelligence. If this is true, those who scream for ward boundaries to be drawn based on high percentages of minority populations have little faith in the democratic process or in the people for whom they speak.
I suggest they show more faith in people and trust in them to vote for candidates based on information and qualifications, not skin color or nationality. Good candidates will work for all of those whom they represent. If they don't, vote them out of office.
