Letter: Let benefactors of arena pay for it
Friday, Sept. 10, 1999 | 9:43 a.m.
Rather than getting tax money involved via all sorts of subcommittee meetings, I propose Las Vegas hangs the entire proposal out on the clothesline for air conditioning. How about getting prospective players for the arena and arts center in on a piece of the action?
With the multimillion-dollar salaries paid to players and performers I'd like to see them put their money where their mouth is and invest in their own future. To be perfectly frank, the entire proposal does not even whet my appetite.
With the prices for the buffets going up steadily, most of us locals have trouble remembering the last time we had a two-for-one from one of the largest wheeler dealers in town.
Before I bite on the proposed bait I have a few words of warning: "Show me the money, honey"!
