Hotel-casino sales talks reported

Wednesday, Sept. 8, 1999 | 10:28 a.m.

The New Frontier hotel-casino on the Las Vegas Strip declined extensive comment on a published report that it is in talks to be sold.

The weekly industry newspaper Gaming Today reported Tuesday that New Frontier owner Phil Ruffin is in talks with an unidentified buyer to sell the hotel-casino and 17 acres of land, both located on the Strip.

The buyer, not in the gaming industry, is looking at razing the New Frontier to build a $900 million megaresort on the Strip, Gaming Today reported.

"That's a rumor, as far as I know," Debbie Busch, director of casino marketing at the New Frontier, said. "There are no signed deals."
