Executive resigns at Resort at Summerlin

Wednesday, Sept. 8, 1999 | 10:38 a.m.

Jim Fonseca, chief operating officer of the Resort at Summerlin, has resigned less than two months after the property's opening.

Fonseca's resignation, which took effect Aug. 31, was announced Tuesday to Resort employees through an internal memo from Chief Executive Brian McMullan. McMullan has assumed Fonseca's duties while the property searches for a new COO.

"Jim Fonseca told me he was leaving for personal and professional reasons, to pursue other opportunities," McMullan said in the internal memo.

Company spokesman Trevor Hayes said Fonseca's departure was not the result of any difficulties at the Resort, which has yet to fully open.

"It's been packed all week," Hayes said.
