On Monday, he took home more than indigestion.

Wall and the Eight Til Late barbecue team from Midland, Mich., took first place at the annual Labor Day weekend event sponsored by John Ascuaga's Nugget.

"Eight years, and I'm tickled to be up here," Wall said as he accepted a 4-foot trophy and the $7,500 first-place prize. "This rocks! Can I get a cocktail waitress?"

He's not the only achieved rib griller from Midland - or from the Wall family.

Billy Bones, whose real name is William E. Wall, was awarded fourth place. Bones is the father of William A. Wall, the first-place winner.

Father and son have competed in the event on different teams for years. Until now, neither had won.

About two dozen cooking teams from across the country participated in the 11th annual event for the bragging rights of being best in the West.

The Outlaw BBQ team from Oregon City, Ore. took second place, followed by Giovanni's, from Berwyn, Ill.

Johnson's BBQ, from Chesapeake, Va., won for best sauce.
