Residents invited to Y2K workshop

The city of Las Vegas is inviting residents to learn how to prepare themselves for Y2K emergencies through a community workshop.

The workshop, sponsored by the city in conjunction with the President's Council on Year 2000 Conversions, will be held Sept. 25 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Our Lady of Las Vegas Church's Bevan Hall, 3025 Alta Drive.

Representatives from Southwest Gas Corp., Las Vegas Valley Water District, Federal Reserve, Metro Police, Federal Aviation Administration and U.S. Small Business Administration will be on hand.

In addition, Nevada Power Co., the American Red Cross, Nevada State Bank, the Las Vegas Fire Department, Nevada Bell Communications and the Social Security Administration will be represented.
