Wednesday, Sept. 1, 1999 | 9:52 a.m.

Las Vegas certified public accountant Radha Chanderraj has been appointed by Gov. Kenny Guinn to serve on the Nevada Gaming Commission.

She replaces Las Vegas attorney Bill Curran, who decided to retire from the commission after more than ten years of service, including eight as chairman.

"It's very gratifying that Gov. Guinn has the confidence in me to appoint me to this important post, and I look forward to serving the state as part of the Gaming Commission," Chanderraj said.

The 45-year-old Chanderraj will earn $40,000 a year in her commission post. In her professional life, she oversees the financial operation of Heart Specialists, a Las Vegas cardiology practice.

Guinn saluted Curran for his service to the state and expressed his happiness that Chanderraj accepted the appointment to replace him.

"Her experience and accounting background will serve the commission well," he said.

Chanderraj has bachelor of science and bachelor of law degrees from the University of Bombay in India, and a master's degree in business administration from the University of California, Irvine.
