LV cable company posts unexpected profit

ATLANTA -- Cox Communications, owner of Cox Cable in Las Vegas, reported an unexpected third-quarter profit as revenue rose 41 percent.
Cox earned $11.9 million or 2 cents a share as revenue increased to $588 million. Analysts surveyed by First Call/Thomson Financial expected Cox to post a loss, excluding special items, of 7 cents per share.
