Wednesday

- Pavel Bure, Panthers, scored a pair of goals in his first game in two weeks as Florida defeated the New York Islanders 6-3.

- Mark Parrish, Panthers, scored two goals as Florida beat the New York Islanders 6-3.

- Dmitri Khristich, Maple Leafs, scored two goals in Toronto's 4-0 victory overrashers 4-0.

- Brendan Shanahan, Red Wings, scored two goals as Detroit beat the Colorado Avalanche 5-3.

- Teemu Selanne, Mighty Ducks, scored in overtime to give Anaheim a 2-1 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins.

SUITING UP

The Panthers welcomed the return of several injured players to the lineup Wednesday night. Pavel Bure, who had missed five straight games; Ray Whitney, missed Florida's previous game with a groin injury; Peter Worrell played for the first time this season after injuring his left knee in training camp.

SHUT OUT

Jocelyn Thibault stopped 29 shots in Chicago's 1-0 victory over Montreal on Wednesday night. The former Canadiens goalie shut out his former team for the second time since being traded to the Blackhawks last November.

STRONG IN DEFEAT

Pittsburgh goalie Jean-Sebastian Aubin, making his first start of the season, had 35 saves - including one on Teemu Selanne's penalty shot - in Anaheim's 4-3 overtime victory over the Penguins on Wednesday night.

STRIKING DISTANCE

Brendan Shanahan had two goals in Detroit's 5-3 win over Colorado on Wednesday night, leaving him one short of 400 for his career.

STOPPING THE SKID

Dominik Hasek got his first win of the season, stopping 15 shots Wednesday night in Buffalo's 4-3 victory over Tampa Bay. Hasek, booed after the Lightning took a 3-2 lead with three goals in a span of 3:28 in the second period, had not won since beating the Dallas Stars in Game 5 of the Stanley Cup finals in June.
