Tap water in the Las Vegas Valley is safe to drink, according to a new report by Southern Nevada water officials.
Tests were conducted to ensure area drinking water complies with the Safe Drinking Water Act. The law requires the agency to submit yearly reports to the Environmental Protection Agency.
The tests measure the amount of potentially dangerous chemicals in the water supply.
Approximately 85 percent of the valley's drinking water is drawn from Lake Mead on the Colorado River. Officials say the Colorado River is recognized as an excellent source of water because of its minimal pollution.
