Shuffle Master Inc. of Las Vegas was Nevada's sole representative on "America's 200 Best Small Companies," an annual list produced by Forbes magazine.

Companies with under $500 million in annual revenues were screened by revenue growth, earnings growth and return on equity over 12-month and five-year periods. Shuffle Master ranked No. 88, its first year on the list.

Shuffle Master also was designated as one of 10 "hot ones" among America's small companies -- those companies apparently poised for exceptional performance on Wall Street in 2000.

Forbes chose the 10 based on return on equity above historical norms, a debt-to-equity ratio of no more than 40 percent, and projected earnings-per-share growth of 20 percent or more in 2000.
