The hikers called authorities from the mountain south of Truckee about 7 p.m. Tuesday. The Placer County Sheriff's Department and the Tahoe Nordic Search and Rescue Team found them about three hours later.
The trio of hospital co-workers were visiting from the Sacramento area, Sheriff's Sgt. J. Granum said. They started hiking Tuesday morning along the Pacific Crest Trail at Soda Springs about 14 miles away.
A 43-year-old woman suffered leg injuries and had to be evacuated by a helicopter to the Tahoe Forest Hospital in Truckee. The other two hiked out with the rescue workers. All three were reported in good condition.
