Airport executives from across the United States and Canada are in Las Vegas this week to discuss issues affecting the air-travel industry.
Chief among the concerns of about 2,000 airport directors, operators and others involved in airports is the future of their operations, particularly the ability to handle the growing volume of air traffic in North America.
The Airports Council International--North America is the primary body for executives running large airports in the United States and Canada. The meeting also has attracted a delegation from China.
The council's annual meeting gives the executives an opportunity to meet and discuss what works, what will be necessary in the future, and current issues and concerns, explained Linda Greene, a council spokeswoman.
Many of those attending are eyeing developments in Washington, D.C., where legislators are debating the funding needs for future airport expansion, she said.
The council meets through today at Bally's on the Strip.
