Advisory board members selected
Goodwill of Southern Nevada Inc. has named the charter members of its newly formed advisory board.
Members include Joe Delaney, entertainment reporter for the Las Vegas Sun; Lou Emmert, vice president and general manager of Sprint; Mark Howard, president and chief executive officer of MountainView Hospital; Clay Markham, senior project designer for Paul Steelman Cos.; Brian McEvilly, president of McEvilly Benefits; Ron McMenemy, broker and general manager of NAI Americana Commercial; and Gary Waddell of KLAS Channel 8.

Cold-weather items needed for homeless
As the temperatures in the Las Vegas Valley cool, the Salvation Army is seeking donations of warm clothing, blankets and sleeping bags for the thousands of homeless men, women and children seeking emergency assistance.
Many are sleeping on the streets and suffer from health problems when the weather turns cold, Lt. Col. Jim Sullivan, said.
Donations can be dropped off at 2900 Palomino Lane or at 35 W. Owens Ave. Henderson donations can be brought to 850 E. Lake Mead Drive.

Applications needed from those seeking assistance
HELP of Southern Nevada is screening families for its Adopt-A-Family program.
The program matches donors with low-income families in need of gifts for the holidays.
Families applying for this year's program must complete an application, provide photo identification, Social Security cards for all family members, proof of income and proof of residency. Families will also need to complete wish lists including ages of children, clothing sizes and education levels.
The families must meet income guideline requirements established by Clark County.
Screening will continue 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday through Nov. 12 at HELP of Southern Nevada, 953 E. Sahara, building 35B, suite 208.

Professor to speak at LV museum
Linda Graham, art history instructor at University of California, Berkeley and the Community College of Southern Nevada, will speak at an education evening sponsored by the Women's Division of the Jewish Federation of Las Vegas 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Las Vegas Art Museum, 9600 W. Sahara Ave.
Admission is $15 and includes a wine and cheese reception. Call 732-0556.
Group to meet at Summerlin Library
The British Isles Interest Group will meet at 1 p.m. Nov. 3 at the Summerlin Library, 1771 Inner Circle Drive.
Members of the group have roots in England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. The group will help those interested find their British ancestors. Call 225-5838.
