Dole doesn’t let mistake slow him down

Holding up former President Dwight Eisenhower as an example of a great leader, Dole talked about the importance of trust in today's leaders.
"(Eisenhower) is viewed as someone you could trust and someone who inspired people around him," Dole said Friday at a convention of credit-union executives. "Trust - how important that little four-letter word is to everyone."
Although some in the crowd murmured at Dole's miscount of letters, the mistake didn't slow the momentum of his speech.
Dole spoke at the California Credit Union League's annual convention at the Sparks Nugget hotel-casino as a substitute for the orginal speaker - wife Elizabeth Dole, who backed out of the presidential race last week.
"She thought she would be doing something else today," Dole said. "Now she's out of work, too."
Dole also solicited donations for a World War II memorial to be built in Washington, D.C. next year.
