Las Vegas Chamber switches newsletter distributor

Friday, Oct. 22, 1999 | 11:11 a.m.

The Business Voice, the monthly newsletter of the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce, will be printed and distributed by the Greenspun Media Group beginning in January.

Terms of the new joint venture were not disclosed. The chamber will continue to sell its own advertising in the newsletter. The pre-press work, printing and distribution of the tabloid-format newsletter will be handled by Greenspun, which contracts its tabloid press runs to Southwest Printers.

The Business Voice, which is mailed to more than 6,100 chamber members and 7,000 other businesses, is now distributed by the Las Vegas Business Press.

Kara Kelley, senior vice president of the chamber, said the chamber's initial deal with the Business Press was negotiated with its publisher at the time, Bruce Spotleson, who has since joined Greenspun and is now general manager of Las Vegas Weekly and Las Vegas Life magazine. Kelley said the year-to-year distribution arrangement was reviewed earlier this year and the chamber opted to go with Spotleson's proposal.

Kelley said the Greenspun group's database of community business contacts and the company's willingness to consult on the newsletter were deciding factors in the decision to switch. She also said the chamber and Greenspun are exploring other distribution options.

The Greenspun family of Las Vegas controls the Las Vegas Sun as well as Greenspun Media Group.
